General questions about the programs and student schedules should be directed to the Engineering Student Center. In the College of Engineering, course pre-requisites and co-requisites are enforced, and thus requisites are carefully chosen. Waivers are granted only when the student can demonstrate the necessary background knowledge by means such as an equivalent course in another department or work experience. Waivers are not granted merely to accommodate a student's schedule or for other reasons not connected with academics. A student seeking a waiver should write a short letter of justification and submit it to the head of undergraduate curriculum.
Students' academic progress in their Engineering program is determined on the basis of their performance during the Fall and Winter Terms. Performance is judged on the basis of the Sessional Weighted Average (S.W.A.) and the number of credit units failed. Credit is given for courses satisfactorily completed during Spring and Summer Terms, but rulings are made on student performance during the previous Fall and Winter terms. A Sessional Weighted Average greater than or equal to 60% is required.
